Google Analytics is moving on

Article written by First Reef
Google Analytics is moving on

Your existing analytics may stop collecting data on the 1st of July 2023.

Google Analytics is the most popular analytics platform in the world. The professional plans start at $150,000 USD per year but thankfully, their free version is full-featured enough for most businesses.

Google has released the next generation of analytics and they are retiring the original.

GA4 (Google Analytics 4)

The new analytics gives a more granular reporting on specific things people do on your website by measuring ‘events’ instead of ‘session-based’ data. It also gives the ability to see what visitors are doing across different devices.

There is a 12-month crossover between the two analytics versions. But, the sooner you switch to the new version, the more historical analytics you will have after July 2023.

Whether you are using Google Analytics to its full potential or not, now is a great time to level up your reporting to utilise this amazing resource – now or in the future.

How do I know what version of Google Analytics I have?

  • Login to your Google Analytics Account
  • Click Admin to the bottom left
  • Hover over your account to the top left you will see a dropdown.
  • Ideally, you will see a UA- property and a GA4-referenced property.

How do I fix this?

You can book First Reef Studio to make this change for $587 ex GST.

As an added bonus, we will also start and configure you a Google Tag Manager account. This platform gives you a single dashboard to manage all the analytics snippets (Google, Facebook, AdWords etc) and any authorisation code snippets that are required by email servers and suppliers).
